Remove Worm Blaster Vista

My computer (running on vista) is infected by blaster worm. I've been reading up on how to get rid of it and found that you must disable system restore and run the worm removal tool. Well I can't get ANY programs (including worm removal tool and system properties for the disabling of system restore) to run. My computer (running on vista) is infected by blaster worm.

I was able to run the removal tool in safe-mode and safe-mode with networking, without turning off system restore, and but both scans claimed that there were no signs of blaster worm on my computer. I think the reason for this is because I don't know how to turn off system restore while in safe-mode (remember that the only way I can run the removal tool is in safe mode). Best Answer: The vulnerability that W32/Blaster.worm exploited to infect computers was patched by Microsoft way back in the Fall of 2003. It would be impossible for your Vista machine to be infected with the geniune Blaster, as it only effected operating systems before Windows XP Service Pack 2. Much more likely is that you have what is called a 'rogue' anti-virus (aka scareware) that pops up fake warnings that your computer is infected with Blaster in order to con you into buying an expensive software to 'fix' the problem. Of course this rogue has by design disabled your System Restore and the ability to run any.exe files. Maybe disabled Task Manager and regedit as well.
