I paid almost 4000 dollars for this tv KDL-52 XBR4 three years ago and now the left side is blurry, ghosts for about one to two hours. And of course the tv is out of warranty but 4000 dollars for three years of service??? I bought sony because it was suppossed to be a good brand! NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY SONY PRODUCTS.
I am going to buy a new tv but guess what? Is NOT going to be SONY. I called sony but of course they said SORRY BUT THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO, your tv is out of warranty, that is it, not discount to buy another sony tv, nothing. My husband and I also bought this TV model and are having the same issues. This should be a recall issue that SONY should stand behind.

Car companies do it.why not SONY? These are very expensive TV's and people today (my husband is out of work) cannot afford to spend thousands to replace them in just a few short years (we purchased in 2008 at Circuit City).
I was on line last week with a SONY technician for the problem who basically could not resolve and then disconnected himself when he got me into so many problems with a reset he couldn't figure out how to handle! SONY in the past was good about standing behind their products but no longer. With the expense of this purchase, and problems we have had in the past with PS3 (although they were good about that repair/replacement), we are having serious doubts about purchasing a replacement TV with the SONY family. I'll look elsewhere which is a shame since SONY was the only brand we purchased for the last 20 years. I also would never recommend to anyone. Too bad SONY doesn't respond to the issues and admit on their website or directly to their customers.it's the first step to winning back customer loyalty.
Never heard back when I complained about the technicians incompetence, so why did they ask me to reply? Here we go again.same problem I had months ago.see my other posts!!!! I called Sony again today and all they could tell me was that I had to pay to have my set evaluated which will cost me $135 bucks to do. After that they will again evaluate what options I have. It amazes me that Sony has extended the LCD warranty for the KDL-46XBR4/5 till 2012 but they still haven't taken care of the people who bought the 52' sets that have the exact same LCD 'tab bonding' issues. Out of protest I have made an appointment to have a certified person who will charge me $135.00 of hard earned money to tell me that I need a new LCD. They extended the warranty to 18 months but that does not help us that have had our sets just under 2 years with LCD issues that Sony knows about.
Sony needs to step up and do the right thing for us 52' customers like they did for the 46' customers! I have a house full of Sone equipment, 3 other Tv's along with BlueRays, AV Home Theatre and many other pieces of equipment. Paid $3500 in Feb of 2008 thinking this set would last another 5 - 10 years.
